Moving to Denver – pros and cons

    By Bailey N. | Moving destinations | 0 comment | 19 July, 2019 | 0

Denver is one of the country’s fastest-growing big cities, with almost 100,000 people moving here in the past seven years. Maybe natural beauty is why moving to Denver is so appealing. Or, it is a 300-days of sun every year, easy access to the mountains and inherent outdoor playground. If you’re considering moving to Denver, here are some pros and cons you should be aware of.

    Moving to Denver – pros

Gorgeous panoramic views of the mountains, blue skies, an exploding job market. You almost can’t think of a reason not to move to Denver. Here’re some pros, that will make you consider moving to Denver and hiring the perfect moving company to perform the move.

Pros And Cons of moving to Denver

Before you make the final decision, make sure you know the pros and cons of moving to Denver.

    A vibrant economy

Denver is known for its strong job market and low unemployment rate, because of its strong aerospace, defense, biotech, healthcare, finance, and hospitality sectors. The University of Denver and the University of Colorado offer higher education and research opportunities. Also, Denver is a hotspot for millennials, and the metro area’s job prospects and growth are a big draw. So, knowing all this, you may consider hiring professionals and moving to Denver from Boston with ease.

    Great weather

If there’s any complaint about Denver’s whether it’s that it is too sunny. This city sees about 300 days of sunshine every year. Though Denver gets over 50 inches of snow a year, it often falls in big storms. It rarely sticks around long. Springtime here is beautiful, and summers are hot but not humid. So, if you’re a fan of year-round sunshine start searching for movers online – here is how to do it right. Just remember to pack some clothes with long sleeves and some sunscreen, and you’ll be able to enjoy the Colorado weather.

    The great outdoors

Sunny days in Denver are excellent for nature lovers. That is definitely one of the reasons why Denver is one of the best cities in Colorado to spend your days in. You can go visit the hills at nearby resorts in the winter and hike in the summer. Also, there’s white water rafting, hot springs, hiking, and zip lines nearby. Get a pedal boat across the Smith Lake in Washington Park or hike the Mile High Trail at City Park. There are plenty of outdoor activities waiting for you after moving to Denver. So, don’t hesitate to hire professional movers and let them perform start to finish delivery services.

    The Cultural Center

If you’re a fan of culture, then moving to Denver is a great choice for you. This city has lots of interesting spots to hit up. The Red Rocks Amphitheater, a geological gem, is 20 minutes away and is a big draw for headliners. But, check the weather on the day of the show though, it is an outdoor venue and you could catch rain. Also, Denver has festivals of every flavor, celebrating everything from music to beer, in and outside the city limits. Visit the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Nature and Science Museum, and the DCPA, which holds many seasonal events, such as Broadway, ballet, and opera.

    Good schools

Denver is a center for academia. No matter if you’re looking to work at a university or go to a college yourself. There are many highly ranked high schools in the city, as well as universities. For example, the University of Denver and Regis University are one of the best universities in the US. Plus, the University of Colorado Boulder is just a short, 30-minute drive north.

    Great food and beer

Denver’s restaurant scene is on point. It holds every type of food you could possibly want, from Asian flavors to BBQ. Also, the city has incredible Mexican food, terrific Vietnamese and Ethiopian food, and a surprising amount of seafood options. And many steakhouses make Denver a meat lover’s paradise too.
Despite being the home of Coors, the mega-brewery, Colorado is a huge player in the craft brewery revolution. There are plenty of new microbreweries in Denver city limits. This means that there are enough places to grab a good brew.
The Great Divide Brewery has amazing beer, a brewery tour, and a tap room. And it’s in one of Denver’s hottest neighborhoods for young professionals.

    Moving to Denver – cons

Until now, you read only about the pros of moving to Denver, which makes sense, as there are a lot of them. But, like any city, Denver has its share of disadvantages as well. Here’s the list of moving to Denver cons. And if you’re still asking yourself “Should I move to Denver?”, this article is here to help you answer that question as honestly as possible.

The cost of living is rising

Among major country cities, Denver’s cost of living is near the middle of the pack. It’s not as expensive as Los Angeles or Boston, but it isn’t as cheap as the cities in Texas. So, housing costs have been rising rapidly in recent years. The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Denver is around $1,256.

Denver’s cost of living is somewhere near the middle of the road.

Everyone wants to live in Denver

Denver has a rapid population growth. While this tends to balance, right now, Denver is still quite crowded. Some local peoples are a bit cynical when it comes to the newcomers. That’s mostly because this influx of population tends to increase the cost of living. In the end, all of these people have to get around the city, and that brings us to our next moving to Denver cons.

    The traffic

It is logical, more people equals more traffic. But, Denver is a city that is built to handle a large number of people. So the traffic is not nearly as bad as in some other cities, but it is not something you can ignore neither. Another reason why traffic can be rough is because Denver is close to the Rocky Mountains. This is a popular destination more or less year-round. Colorado is the number one destination for skiing in all of North America. During the summer, tourists flock through Denver on their way to the mountains. And in winter, weekend traffic can cause some frustration as well. Still, this is a small price to pay for having the most beautiful scenery in the country.
