    By Bailey N. | Top tips for moving to Beverly Hills | 0 comment | 27 February, 2019 | 0

There are many types of containers. And when you are deciding, do you need one, you should first know that that are different types. Such as shipping container, ISO container, cargo container, storage containers, etc. A storage container is a big “box” where you can store all the items you want. The reasons why people rent or buy a storage container are endless. Moving, remodeling home, or some people are buying them for a business. No matter what the reason is, you should pack a storage container properly, especially if you have fragile and sensitive items to pack and store.

If you are moving, renting a storage container may help a lot and also,  professionals can help you move your apartment. You should also consider a storage unit if you need a place to store your household items. Variations are different and numerous.

    Pick the right storage container

The first step you should take is to choose the right container for you and then to pack it. They come in different sizes, colors, and types.

    • Choose the size first. It depends on how many items you have to put inside. So, first what you need to do, is to calculate the number of your household items and then pack a storage container.
    • Smaller containers are easier to move than larger ones. If you have a lot of items, consider renting a couple of smaller storage containers.
    • If you have special items to store, that is sensitive to temperature changes, you will need a temperature-controlled storage container.
    • People that want to rent a couple of storage containers, choose different colors.

As you can see, the type of storage container is the most important thing. If you pick the wrong type and size, you cannot pack your storage container right.

Choose between different types of containers. The right one for your household items.

Pack a storage container like a pro – tips

A storage company will deliver a storage container to your address, and that is where the process starts. A container will be on your property as much as you need. So, you will have enough time to pack a storage container. Do not rush and pay attention to details. When you are ready to move it, a moving company will transport it. Or, on the other hand, you can do it by yourself. In one average storage container, you can pack one or two rooms, depending on how many items you have.

Prepare the items you want to store!

When packing your items for storage container, you must first prepare them properly. You should use the same or at least similar boxes to pack your items. Also, make sure you do not overpack your boxes. It is not safe because you may damage them. Use strong and firm boxes. Other things besides boxes you will need are ratchet straps, moving blankets, a marker for labeling boxes, packing tape, and packing paper. For fragile items, you will also need air bubble foil to wrap and secure them.

Use firm boxes and do not over-pack them.

    Pay attention to weight

Distribute weight in storage container if you want to move it later. It should be distributed evenly. Put heavier items on the bottom and lighter on the top of them. If one side is lighter from the other, it is a big mistake because, during transportation, a storage container may roll over. That is probably the last thing you want during the transportation process. You can damage items and hurt people around you on the highway too. Pack a storage container carefully and everything will be safe.

    Fill the space

To avoid uneven weight, you should fill the space properly. Also, try to put as many items you can. After all, you will save money this way. It will provide stability and you will also maximize space and use all the potential. So, fill open spaces between boxes and the space between boxes and ceiling. For filling, use soft items such as blankets and clothing.

    Make a plan and list

Before you start packing a storage container, calculate how many items you have and make an inventory. Be realistic, because many people underestimate how many items they have to store or move. It is a good solution to make an inventory, so you will know what is inside. If anything is missing, you will know.

    Do not pack everything

You can put anything inside of a storage container, but you should not. For example, do put pack valuables, documents, important papers, heirlooms, etc. when you pack a storage container. If you are moving, keep those items near you. It is the safest way, for sure. Storage containers are safe, but you never know what can happen.

    Secure and protect your items

Some extra steps will protect your items, so these steps are not worthless, definitely.

    • Wrap fragile items, TVs, glass, etc. Bubble foil will work just fine.
    • Cover furniture with moving blankets, so they will not get any dirt or damage.
    • Cover all items on the top with blanket or cardboard.
    • If a storage container has places to put straps use it as additional security.
    • Control mold and mildew by using moisture absorbers.
    • Lock a storage container always to avoid stealing.

With a couple of additional steps, your items will be safe and secured.

Pack a storage container like a pro, and you will not have any reason to worry. They are waterproof and weatherproof. It is a good solution when moving or remodeling the whole house. It is easier to clean and renovate it, without too many items inside your home. They are not too expensive, so you can afford it.
