Moving from one sunny state to another sounds like all fun and games, right? But, in most cases, it can be a very tough and stressful process. You have to think it through – make a plan, find movers, get ready. Sometimes you forget something by accident. But sometimes, you do it on purpose. When you have the time to plan and organize everything, you get to think about what to leave behind when relocating from Florida to California. It’s easier said than done, but it’s doable. It will help you out, trust us. So stay with us for more information.

To leave or not to leave, that is the question

Moving should be a fresh and new start you never had a chance for. No matter how ruthless this sounds, leaving things behind is a part of it. Leave your old you behind. We all have a lot of things that we’re emotionally attached to. High school diaries, birthday gifts, DIY Christmas ornaments. But, let’s face it. If you don’t use something for some time, you probably don’t need it with you in your new home. According to experts from City Movers, people are paying a lot more money for transporting things that they don’t use every day. Don’t be one of them. Your budget is one of the things you don’t want to harm during the move.

What to leave behind when relocating from Florida to California?

Moving is the best time to declutter all of your belongings. If you’re not sure what to leave, keep reading for some tips.

    Books and papers

For any book lover, this may sound like an impossible mission. But, let’s face it. If you want to lower your moving expenses, and your luggage, you have to leave something behind. Start with the phone books and the books you’ve already read. You may want to consider donating some of them to charity or to your local library. Also, go through your papers, and leave only the important ones. Bills, contracts, mortgage papers, etc. If possible, scan them, and save some space in the moving truck.

    Food

This is an important step. Look into your fridge and pantry, and see what you can move with you and what to leave behind when relocating from Florida to California. Tins, conserved food, ramen, soup. Whatever is good to go. And don’t worry about transport because experts are there for you. The rest of it, that has an expiry date, you should either leave behind (donate to a charity) or use at your goodbye party.

    Knick-knacks

Go through your souvenirs, keepsakes, and knick-knacks. These tend to use a lot of space. If you don’t use them or if you’re not attached to them too emotionally, it’s time to say goodbye. And don’t feel bad about it. You’re probably just keeping it in the corner without even knowing. Give them away or make a yard sale. You can even earn some extra cash.

    You’re good to go!

Now that you’ve read what to leave behind when relocating from Florida to California, you can start packing. If you however need any more tips and tricks on moving, you can easily find them online. Enjoy your move!
